Brazil – Fazenda São Carlos
Fazenda São Carlos is located in the in the unique volcanic region of Poços de Caldas. The farm is perfectly situated to grow coffee in this mountainous region, with altitudes ranging from 970 – 1250 masl. Fazenda São Carlos sits on the periphery of the volcanic caldera (large old crater) which has a diameter of 31km and has a terroir and climate suited for producing specialty coffee with distinct profiles.
Sao Carlos has been in the Amorim family for over 70 years. The coffee is collected by hand with specialy motorised hand pickers commonly used in this area. Once collected the coffee is separated by denisity and colour before then being taken to the patios to dry for approximately 7 – 10 days. The coffees are alao separated by variety and this is a blend of red & yellow catuai.
