Ethiopia – Konga
Konga is one of SNAP VI’s sites, located in Yirgacheffe woreda, 4 km east of Yirgacheffe town, at an elevation of 2200 masl. This specific station sources most of its cherries from 450 farmers in the surrounding mountains, who often deliver their cherries directly to the station. Handpicked and sorted red cherries are laid out on 170 raised beds, where they dry slowly for 3 to 4 weeks, ensuring quality for natural processed cherries. For washed coffee, the pulped cherries are laid out on raised beds and dried for 7 to 10 days.
